Fire damages Spring Valley Commons center

A fire at Spring Valley Commons shopping center early Monday caused an estimated $1 million in damage, a Columbia Fire Department spokesman said.

The department responded to a three-alarm commercial structure fire about 12:30 a.m. Monday. Several businesses received heavy fire damage and others smoke damage, the spokesman said.

No injuries were reported . The spokesman said 61 members of CFD and 13 fire vehicles responded.

The cause of fire has not been determined and is being investigated by Richland County Fire Marshal's Office.
