Friday letters: Single-payer system on its way

October 18, 2013

So the health-care exchanges mandated by the Affordable Care Act were not ready for business on opening day. And private insurers are pulling out of the marketplace as fast as they can, thus disproving the president’s promise that “if you like the coverage you’ve got now, you’ll be able to keep it.”

Is anyone surprised? Has any federal program ever delivered its intended benefits for anywhere near the price that was promised? But have no fear, the wizards of Washington who created this mess will swoop in and “fix it.”

Mark my words, just like they decimated the mortgage industry via Fannie Mae And Freddie Mac, and then “fixed it” by taking over the entire industry via the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, the feds — who always know best — will take over the entire health-care industry by way of a single-payer system. It’s coming.
