Five Points Association ‘adamantly opposed’ to street closures, mandatory 2 a.m. bar closings

— The Five Points Association is “adamantly opposed” to any street closures and mandatory 2 a.m. bar closings in Five Points.

Amy Beth Franks, executive director of the merchants association, said in an emailed statement “neither addresses the real issue in Five Points - gang violence.”

The association has been seeking help with the growing gang problem for a number of years, installing more than 200 security cameras and employing private security, Franks said.
