SC GOP director takes new job with state treasurer

October 28, 2013

S.C. GOP Party Executive Director Alex Stroman has left his job after nearly 11 months to become a spokesman for state treasurer Curtis Loftis.

A replacement was not named. Stroman's responsibilities will be split among several staffers until the job is filled in a few months, said S.C. GOP chairman Matt Moore, who was the state director until January.

Stroman lead the party while former Gov. Mark Sanford was elected to the Congressional seat he once held this spring.

"Alex is talented, and we wish him the best," Moore said.

Stroman, who at 24 was the nation's youngest state GOP political party director, told S.C. leaders that he was leaving to join Loftis last week. He worked on Loftis' 2010 campaign while in college. Stroman's first day with the treasurer was Monday, Loftis said.

Mark Boone, who joined Loftis' office as a spokesman recently, said he is no longer working for the treasurer.
