Lexington motorcyclist dies in early morning wreck

— A Lexington motorcyclist died after an early-morning collision near Lexington on Platt Springs Road.

Michael Douglas Garrison, 21, was identified by the Lexington County Coroner’s Office.

Garrison was driving a Yamaha motorcycle at about 6:45 a.m. when he crashed with a woman driving a Chevrolet truck, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol. Garrison, who was wearing a helmet, was ejected and died en route to Lexington Medical Center from injuries he sustained.

The driver of the truck was also transported to a Lexington hospital.

The accident remains under investigation by the Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the S.C. Highway Patrol.
