Update: 71-year-old Columbia man crossing Bush River Road struck and killed

A pedestrian trying to cross Bush River Road on Friday night near the Woodland Village Apartments was struck and killed, the S.C. Highway Patrol reports.

Update: The pedestrian has been identified as Wesley J. Robinson, 71, of Columbia. Robinson was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident occurred shortly after 7 p.m. Robinson, wearing blue jeans and a tan coat, was struck by a northbound pickup truck driven by a 71-year-old Gaston man, patrol spokesman Sgt. Bob Beres said.

The accident remains under investigation by the Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the Highway Patrol.
