— A 17-year-old has been charged with attempted murder in connection with an Oct. 25 shooting off Two Notch Road.

Kejuan Gilyard also was charged with possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, said Jennifer Timmons, a Columbia Police Department spokeswoman. He is at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.

Gilyard is accused of shooting a man during an argument on Hughes Street, near Two Notch Road. Circumstances around the argument remain under investigation, Timmons said.

The victim remains hospitalized in critical condition after suffering multiple gunshots to the upper body, Timmons said.

The shooting happened on Oct. 25 while Interim Columbia Police Chief Ruben Santiago was holding a press conference at police headquarters to address violent crime in the city, including in Five Points.
