PREP FOOTBALL ROUNDUP: Blythewood block party stops Ridge View, 49-16

At Blythewood, the Blythewood Bengals (7-4, 3-2) benefitted from strong special teams play that included two blocked kicks — one converted to a touchdown — and defensive scoring to close the regular season with a 49-16 victory against Ridge View.

Blythewood narrowly outgained Ridge View, 286 yards to 267, and both teams had gave up two interceptions.

But with 121 yards on kick returns — 72 from Aaron Peak — the Bengals had the edge.

Ridge View finishes 3-8, 1-4.

At Saluda, Abbeville’s Khalil Fuller led the game with 13 rushes for 103 yards. Abbeville rushed for all of its 321 yards.

For Saluda, Maurice Howard posted 108 yards on 8-21-4 passing.

Saluda finishes 5-6. Abbeville will play at Chesnee in the second round.

LANDRUM 45, EAU CLAIRE 18

At Landrum, Cardinals quarterback Aaron Bryant posted 372 total yards and five touchdowns to lift Landrum and stop Eau Claire at 1-10 in the first round of the Upper State Class 2A Div. II playoffs. The Shamrocks were led by Marquise Taylor, who passed for 211 yards and three touchdowns.

Landrum is 6-5 and will travel to Batesburg-Leesville next.

SPRING VALLEY 48, RICHLAND NORTHEAST 7

At Richland Northeast, the Vikings (11-0, 5-0) continued their winning streak to edge the Cavaliers (1-10, 1-4). Richland looked as if it could gain the lead but fell behind Spring Valley’s three touchdowns in the third quarter.

John Miller took the spotlight with three touchdowns, and Malik Scott added the only touchdown for Richland Northeast.
