One shot in home invasion near Riverbanks Zoo

— Richland County sheriff’s detectives on Sunday were investigating a home invasion where resident was shot and cash and credit cards were taken.

The victim – who was shot in the upper body – was taken to Palmetto Health Richland hospital, a sheriff’s spokesman said Sunday. His current condition could not be learned.

The incident happened around 7 p.m.. Saturday in the 300 block of Saluda River Road. The house is located on a rural two-land in an area just across I-126 from Riverbanks Zoo and Gardens.

More than one shot was fired during the incident, said spokesman Curtis Wilson.

No information was available on the number of suspects or their description.
