Lexington County man sentenced for 2011 murder

November 12, 2013

— An Oak Grove area man is serving life in prison after being convicted of murder, burglary and armed robbery in the killing a homeowner during a 2011 break-in, authorities say.

A jury found Demetriss Glenn, 31, guilty of killing Timothy Tice by beating him to death with a bar stool at a home just south of the Lake Murray dam, a news release from 11th Circuit Solicitor Donald Myers’ office said Tuesday.

Tice, 45, died after awakening and resisting a break-in by Glenn and two others to steal money and guns, prosecutors said.

Circuit Judge Thomas Russo imposed the sentence for what Myers said was a “senseless” slaying.
