Richland 2 removes 'interim' from Superintendent Hamm

cclick@thestate.comNovember 12, 2013

Interim Richland 2 schools superintendent became Superintendent Debra Hamm on Tuesday night.

The Richland 2 board, by a vote of 6-1, agreed to extend a contract to Hamm through June 2015. She will be paid $199,000 annually.

Hamm, an educator with 33 years of experience in Richland 2, was appointed interim superintendent in June following the abrupt resignation of Superintendent Katie Brochu.

A Californian who began her career as a teacher in Sumter County, Hamm has earned admiration for her collaborative approach and for restoring confidence in the district after Brochu's sometimes rocky tenure.
