Empty child-sized chairs were set up on the North grounds of the South Carolina State House on Wednesday, November 13, 2013. Similar displays were erected across the nation to call attention to the tens of thousands of children who have been cut from Head Start nationwide due to sequestration. The chairs represented the 388 Head Start slots that have been cut in the South Carolina due to budget cuts forced by Congressional inaction. GERRY MELENDEZ — gmelendez@thestate.com Buy Photo
