UPDATE: Role of woman in Wednesday home invasion unclear

November 13, 2013

— Richland County authorities are no longer calling the incident that occured Wednesday night on the 300 block of Elders Pond Circle a home invasion and possible kidnapping.

Around 9 p.m., three men forced their way into the house, tied up a male victim, stole a camera and laptop and then left , taking a female aquaintance of the male victim with them. Authorities now believe drugs may be involved in the incident. The female aquaintance of the victim has not been located, sheriff department spokesman Curtis Wilson said.

The male victim of the home invasion told investigators that the three men threatened him with a handgun but otherwise he was unhurt in what is now being characterized by the Richland County Sheriff’s Department as a home invasion and robbery.
