Thursday letters: Students being set up to fail

November 14, 2013

It was amazing to read about all the whining coming from some of the parents of Lexington 1 students about the district’s grading system (“Lexington 1 tweaks disputed grading system,” Oct. 31). It looks as though the district has capitulated to this whining by “dropping the lowest grade on major tests” and “limiting students who fail major tests to one or two retakes per period … to improve grades.”

These students are going to have a rude awakening when they leave school, as they will not get do-overs in college, the military or at McDonald’s. Our hearts should go out to them as they will need our sympathy.
