POLITICS: About-face could impact 14 insurers, 33,000 SC policyholders

The Obama Administration’s decision Thursday to change the Affordable Care Act’s rules creates an unusual situation for 14 companies that plan to leave the S.C. health insurance market in 2014.

Those companies already have sent out cancellation letters on policies that cover about 33,000 South Carolinians, according to the state Department of Insurance.

But it’s unclear if the Affordable Care Act do-over on insurance policies, announced Thursday, includes those companies.
