Charlotte airport has less parking for holiday

November 15, 2013

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) – Flying for Thanksgiving from Charlotte may be a bit more of a challenge this year.

The Charlotte Observer reported (http://bit.ly/1d1swdU) that Charlotte Douglas International Airport has 4,000 fewer parking spaces than last year.

That's because the airport is building a new hourly parking deck that's expected to be ready next November. But to make room for the $120 million project, the airport tore down old hourly parking decks.

The airport has about 22,000 parking spaces now. That's down from more than 26,000 at this time last year.

The new deck opening late next year will give the airport about 28,000 parking spaces.
