PLAYOFFS: Hammond Skyhawks earn SCISA title-game berth

— Running back TJ Brady led Hammond with 20 carries for 132 yards and two touchdowns as the Skyhawks earned their eighth consecutive SCISA 3A championship berth with a 28-26 victory against Orangeburg Prep on Friday.

Brady added 120 yards and a touchdown receiving. At quarterback, Nick Garrett completed all four of his attempts and rushed for 90 yards. On defense, Doak Fisher posted an interception and a blocked field goal.

Orangeburg Prep’s season ended at 11-2.

After winning eight straight games, Hammond (10-3) will play undefeated Wilson Hall in the title game on Nov. 23 at Charlie W. Johnson Stadium.

At Pelion, Isaiah Jenkins led the Panthers into the third round of the Class 2A Division I playoffs with 11 carries for 117 yards against Crescent. Quarterback Zach Hawkins also posted 117 yards of offense, with a touchdown pass among his three completions.

The Panthers’ defense held the Tigers to 203 yards, 73 in their second-half shutout.

Pelion (7-4) goes to Cheraw next. Crescent finishes 8-4.

At Cheraw, Khalil Newton posted 141 yards rushing on 22 carries as the Braves (7-4) took down the Capitals (4-8).

The Capitals were limited to 91 yards of offense, with quarterback William Gossette accounting for 50 yards.

Cheraw hosts Pelion next week.

At Pendleton, the Newberry Bulldogs improved to 9-3 and advanced to the third round. Pendleton finishes 6-5. Newberry will travel to Winnsboro to face Fairfield Central next week.

FAIRFIELD CENTRAL 25, KEENAN 0

At Fairfield Central, the Griffins edged the Raiders to improve 11-0.

Keenan dropped to 7-5. Fairfield Central takes on Newberry (9-3) next week.
