Alleged Richland Co. arsonist arrested

— An 18-year-old Columbia area man has been arrested and charged with two counts of arson in connection with fires at an apartment complex on 1401 Longfcreek Drive.

Brandon Abdul Alamin, a resident of the Ashton Apartments, where the fires started, is in the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center, Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said in a Monday press release. Alamin is under $25,000 bond.

The fires Alamin is charged with starting happened just after 9 p.m. on Oct. 10 at the apartment complex.

Along with other residents, Alamin was questioned at the scene. Upon further investigation, detectives arrested Alamin, Lott said.
