Record highs set in region Monday

November 18, 2013

Record daily high temperatures were broken Monday in Columbia (85) and Augusta (86), and tied in Florence (83), Savannah (83) and Charlotte (78), according to the National Weather Service.

The Columbia temperature broke the previous record of 83 set in 1958. The Augusta high marked the latest in the calendar year the temperature ever has hit 86 at that weather station.

A cold front is expected to bring high temperatures down to around 60 Tuesday in Columbia, according to the weather service.
