Two men face charges theft of cell phone from car in Chapin area

Two men were arrested and charged Sunday with in connection with the theft of a cell phone from a car.

Ryan Lawrence Pyle, 33, of Bee Haven Road in Columbia and William Randolph Walker, 34, of Dreher Island Road in Chapin, are charged in connection with the incident at outside a home on Summit Point Drive near Chapin, the Lexington County Sheriff James Metts said in a news release Monday.

Pyle is charged with one count of breaking into a motor vehicle and one count of third-offense possession of marijuana as well as charges of second-offense driving a motor vehicle with a driver’s license that had been suspended and failing to provide motor vehicle registration upon demand, Metts said and Walker was charged with breaking into a motor vehicle.

Arrest warrants allege at about 3:34 a.m. Sunday, the suspects entered the motor vehicle parked outside the Summit Point Drive home and stole a Blackberry Bold cellular telephone, Metts said. A witness description of the suspects’ car led a deputy to stop the car, where the stolen item allegedly was found. A small amount of marijuana and the remnants of a marijuana cigarette also were found, Metts said.

Both suspects were in the Lexington County Detention Center Monday.
