Wednesday letters: Gun-free zone unnecessary

November 20, 2013

— In his Monday letter, Stan Frick suggested that Five Points be made a gun-free zone.

It is already illegal for anyone to carry a gun without a concealed weapons permit. Even with a permit, one cannot carry a gun into an establishment that serves alcohol.

I posit that none of these people have a permit since the media have not reported that they did. Since they are already breaking the law by carrying a weapon, how would another restriction make any difference?
