Art for the ARC

Spend an evening at Tapp’s Art Center Thursday to benefit a children’s advocacy center. Art for the ARC is 5-9 p.m., Thursday at the Tapp’s Art Center, 1644 Main St. Enjoy food, music, silent auction, dancers and other entertainment. Tickets are $15; seniors, students and military, $10 with ID, age 5 and younger, free. Family packs (two adults and two children), $35. Sponsored by USC’s Festival Planning and Management class, proceeds will benefit The ARC, a nationally accredited Children’s Advocacy Center with the S.C. Festival of Trees

Kick off the holiday season with Palmetto Health Foundation’s annual event at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center, 1101 Lincoln St. Decorated trees, wreaths and other items are part of a weekend silent auction to benefit Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital. Silent auction preview will be 6 p.m. Friday; tickets are $75, couples, $125. Trees will be on display 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and noon-4 p.m. Sunday; free activities and entertainment. www.festivaloftreescolumbia.org


44th Annual Colonial Cup

The fall steeplechase event is at Springdale Race Course, 200 Knights Hill Road, Camden. Gates open at 9 a.m. Pre-race activities include terrier trials, live music, Carolina skydiving team jump, salute to the military including recognition of Tuskegee Airman Dr. Leroy Bowman of Sumter. Post time for the first race is 12:30 p.m. Tickets are $30, age 12 and younger free when accompanied by an adult. Service personnel, active and retired, as well as their family members, will be issued complimentary tickets. www.carolina-cup.org
