— Will Brooke Mosteller upstage U.S. Sen. Tim Scott at the Palmetto Policy Forum's Vision SC Summit today in Charleston?

Miss South Carolina surprised the audience with the singing of a verse from the National Anthem, in honor of President John F. Kennedy, who was assassinated 50 years ago today.

Mosteller joins Scott as special guests at the Policy Forum luncheon. Scott will deliver the keynote address, on the topic, "Turning Poverty into Success Through Education and Economic Freedom.

Mosteller told The Buzz that she interned for Scott in 2011, and he would let her sing in the hallway, where she had a brush with federal police.

One day, someone called the police, and Scott explained who she was, Mosteller said.

"He's rescued me from being arrested by the federal government."
