Rapper DMX reports car, friend gone missing

November 23, 2013

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) – The rapper known as DMX tells South Carolina law officers that his 35-year-old car has gone missing along with the friend who planned to sell it.

The hip-hop singer whose real name is Earl Simmons told the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office that he and his girlfriend gave the 1978 Buick Regal and a duplicate title to a friend who said he could sell it. An incident report taken by deputies this week says the friend took the car late last month, never returned, and has changed his phone number.

The report says Simmons and his girlfriend don't know the friend's last name or address.

The rapper became known after a string of hits starting in the late 1990s that included “Party Up (Up in Here)” and “Get at Me Dog.”
