— Richland County sheriff’s deputies are seeking suspects in two armed robberies that happened over the weekend, a spokesman said Sunday.

The first took place at the AM-PM Food Mart at 7320 Parkland Road, in the Dentsville area of Columbia, between Two Notch Road and I-20.

Two men entered the store about 9: 30 p.m. Saturday and beat a victim about the upper body. After exiting the store, one suspect brandished a weapon at two people outside the store, and one the those two men fired “multiple rounds” at the suspects, according to Richland County sheriff’s spokesman Curtis Wilson.

Wilson said it is not known if either of the suspects was struck. He did not say what was stolen in that robbery.

Another armed robbery happened when two men assaulted a victim who was walking to the store about 9:30 p.m. Saturday near Broad River Road and Seminole Road.

The two suspects first beat the victim, then choked him and rifled his pockets, stealing cash, a driver’s license, a birth certificate and an iPhone 4S, Wilson said.
