Gov. Nikki Haley, state leaders, and ethics reform advocates held a news conference to talk about ethics reform, an issue that figures to be major in the 2014 campaign for governor. Here, Henry McMaster and Travis Medlock listen to her remarks.

— Republican Gov. Nikki Haley has no public events scheduled for the week of Thanksgiving, her office reported Monday.

Next week, Haley and her family -- minus First Gentleman Michael Haley, who is still serving in Afghanistan with the S.C. National Guard -- will light the state Christmas Tree as part of the Governor's Carol Lighting.

According to her staff, the governor's activities last week included:

4 economic development meetings

4 media events, including a news conference at the Republican Governors Association annual meeting in Arizona and a news conference in Charleston touting ethics reform

3 "meetings with fellow governors" at the RGA meeting

1 agency call

1 agency meeting

Busiest day: Thursday, with five activities

Slowest day: Monday, with two activities

OF NOTE: State Sen. Vincent Sheheen, Haley's likely Democratic challenger for governor, has one event on his schedule this week: a Wednesday road dedication/sign unveiling ceremony in Elgin to honor Deputy Sherriff Earnest Christian “Chris” Porter, III who died in the line of duty several years ago.
