Pelion’s girls basketball team suffering though a tough 2012-13 season as a young team playing in a demanding region. The Panthers finished 8-13 overall, and went 1-9 and failed to make the playoffs out of Region 3-2A.

But with 10 letter winners returning, including three starters, the Panthers hope to challenge for a postseason berth this time around.

Senior Ashley King is the team leader after averaging 11.1 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.2 steals and 1.4 assists last season.

Sophomore Delerisha Phillips (2.9 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 1.2 spg, 1.6 apg) and Alex Goodwin (4.4 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 1.5 spg) are the other returning starters. Sophomore Uniqua Jackson (1.9 ppg, 3.9 rpg) was a solid player off the bench.

Senior Ashley Bailey, who has not played basketball since middle school, is a newcomer to watch.
