Friday letters: Random, kind act was inspiring

November 29, 2013

In line Nov. 18, just after 8 a.m. at the Food Lion on Decker Boulevard, a man in front of me paid for his three items and told the checkout girl he wanted to pay for my items as well. I said, “Oh, no, I have far too much for you to do that.” But he said, “Ma’am, please let me do this.”

I did, and then thanked him for his kindness to a stranger, as did the man in line behind me, who went up to the Good Samaritan and shook his hand. What a way to start a Sunday morning, with an angel unawares. I hope he sees this, as his gesture certainly was inspiring.
