The Best Man Holiday: (R) College friends and lovers reunite for the holiday in this sequel to “The Best Man.”

The Book Thief: (PG-13) While subjected to the horrors of World War II Germany, young Liesel finds solace by stealing books and sharing them with others.

Black Nativity: (PG) Kasi Lemmons adapts Langston Hughes’ musical drama about a Baltimore teen (Jacob Latimore), who attempts to get home to be with his mother (Jennifer Hudson) after a Christmas with his imposing relatives (Forest Whitaker and Angela Bassett).

The Delivery Man: (PG-13) An affable underachiever finds out he’s fathered 533 children through anonymous donations to a fertility clinic 20 years ago.

Despicable Me 2: (PG) Gru is recruited by the Anti-Villain League to help save the world in this sequel to the 2010 animated film.

Ender’s Game: (PG-13) Film brings Orson Scott Card’s novel to the screen with Asa Butterfield starring as Andrew “Ender” Wiggin, a precocious child preparing for a future alien invasion at military school.

Frozen: (PG) The kingdom of Arendelle is trapped in an eternal winter under the icy spell of Elsa (voiced by Idina Menzel).

Homefront: (R) A former DEA agent moves his family to a quiet town, where he soon tangles with a local meth druglord.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire: (PG-13) Katniss and Peeta are forced to fight another day in this second installment of “The Hunger Games” trilogy.

Insidious 2: (PG-13) Further adventures of a family (Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne) plagued by a persistent demon.

Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa: (R) Johnny Knoxville dresses as an old man, but he’s up to the same schtick.

LastVegas: (PG-13) Taking a page out of the “Hangover,” Michael Douglas, Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman and Kevin Kline head to Sin City for one last hurrah before a wedding.

Monsters University: (G) A look at the relationship between Mike and Sulley during their days at Monsters University, when they weren’t necessarily the best of friends.

Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters: (PG) Another adventure for the teen who’s half god and half man.

Philomena: (PG-13) A journalist picks up the story of a woman’s search for her son, who was taken away from her decades ago after she became pregnant and was forced to live in a convent.

Planes: (G) Disney animated comedy about little planes that enter an around-the-world race.

The Smurfs 2: (PG) More mischief from the blue men (and woman) group.

Thor: The Dark World: (PG-13) An ancient race threatens to destroy Earth and its nine realms. Thor (Chris Hemsworth) must sacrifice everything he has to restore order to the cosmos.

The Wolverine: (PG-13) Hugh Jackman returns as the X-man with issues.
