Preview: C.A. Johnson boys hoops

November 30, 2013

C.A. Johnson welcomes back four starters from a team that finished 8-14 overall, but ended up making a surprise run to the third round of the Class 1A state boys basketball playoffs.

Perhaps, it wasn’t that much of a surprise. After all, the Green Hornets faced what easily was the toughest non-region schedule of any small school in the state and was battle tested come playoff time.

“We are a senior laden team with a wealth of experience, but our lack of size in the post this year will cause us some trouble against bigger opponents,” said coach Darryl Jarvis.

Seniors Peter Goodman (15.0 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 3.0 apg), Michael Knox (12.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg), William Tobe (6.0 ppg, 5.0 rpg) and Robert Riley (5.0 ppg, 4.0 apg, 3.0 apg) are the returning starters in tow.

Senior Nate Nelson, junior Kevin Mole and sophomore Tahj Green, the tallest CAJ player at 6-foot-4, are the newcomers to watch.
