No discrepancies in state, local audits for strong-mayor results

The precertification audits for both Richland and Lexington counties have been completed by the S.C. Election Commission for the results of Tuesday’s strong-mayor referendum.

There were no discrepancies, said Chris Whitmire, a spokesman for the state commission.

The next step for the State Commission will be helping with the post-certification audit, which would include any provisional ballots added just prior to certification, Whitmire said.

Columbia’s Municipal Election Commission will meet Thursday at 10 a.m. at Richland County Elections & Voter Registration Office to certify the results.
