— Many are the editorials and letters to the editor complaining about state and local governments and the lack of accountability and transparency, not to mention corruption. Problems have been identified and solutions proposed (especially by Cindi Scoppe in her tireless efforts in The State to expose waste, fraud, and abuse at the state and local levels).

With few exceptions, the politicians responsible for government by the few for special interests (a kleptocracy) keep getting elected. Party affiliation seems to make no difference either. I agree with Mad magazine (June 2013) and Alfred E. Neuman — the first Wednesday in November should be called “Voter Remorse Day.”
