GUV'S SCHEDULE: Nikki Haley has one public event after Monday

A large crowd joined Governor Nikki Haley and her children, Rena and Nalin, Columbia Mayor Steve Benjamin and his wife, DeAndrea at the 47th Annual Governor’s Carolighting Monday, on the north side of the Statehouse.


Gov. Nikki Haley has only one public event on her schedule this week after Monday's Christmas open house at the Governor's Mansion. She also attended the University of South Carolina's economic forecast conference earlier Monday:

• 10 a.m. Tuesday: S.C. Budget and Control Board Meeting

According to her staff, the governor's activities last week included:

4 - Speaking engagements

2 each - News conferences on ethics reform, constituent meetings/calls, legislative meetings and economic development meetings

1 - Congressional delegation meeting in Washington, D.C. (Read the background)

• Busiest day – Wednesday, with six activities

• Slowest day – Friday, with one activity

Of note -- She participated in the 47th Annual Governor’s Carolighting at the State House last Monday; met with Rock Hill Mayor Doug Echols on Tuesday and U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz in Washington, D.C., on Thursday; and attended the S.C. Manufacturers Alliance at the Defenders of Manufacturing Dinner on Thursday where she received the 2013 Roger Milliken Defender of Manufacturing Award.
