CrimeStoppers tip leads to arrest in deadly stabbing

— Richland County Sheriff’s Investigators arrested Tony Lamont Young Tuesday after receiving a CrimeStoppers tip identifying Young as the person who stabbed a man at 1800 Longcreek Drive on Dec. 7.

Police arrested Young, 21, at a relative’s apartment without incident.

According to Sheriff Leon Lott, investigators found the knife believed to have been used in the attack and items that belonged to the victim in Young’s possession.

Around 1 a.m. on Dec. 7, deputies found an unresponsive 30-year-old male lying in the parking lot of an apartment complex.

Sheriff Lott said the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene, suffered multiple stab wounds to the upper body.

Young has been taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
