School money expert Karl Fulmer is taking a second retirement, this time as chief financial officer for classrooms along the north shore of Lake Murray.
Fulmer is stepping down Jan. 6 after coming out of retirement in 2009 to assist schools in Irmo, Chapin, Dutch Fork, Harbison and St. Andrews after a lengthy career in Lexington 1.
I wouldnt have left my first retirement for anywhere other than District 5, he said in a statement.
Fulmer, an educator for 47 years, said Lexington-Richland 5 is in good shape academically and financially.
He will be succeeded by Len Richardson, finance director at the state Department of Education for the past 13 years.
