Jam Room Christmas Compilation CD

Proceeds from this year’s Jam Room Christmas Compilation CD will go toward artist Thomas Crouch, who was injured after being hit by a unidentified driver while biking on Oct. 31.

Tonight’s release party at Art Bar in the Vista also includes a small art auction. New recordings by The Mustache Brothers, Megan Jean and the KFB, James Etheridge, Dead Pedals, The Mercy Shot, Buck Stanley, Trees on Mars, The Harlem Downtrodders are included in the CD.

The event is from 7-11 tonight at Art Bar, 1211 Park St. in the Vista.

Enjoy classical music while supporting a good cause at the Happy Birthday Beethoven Concert featuring pianist Matthew Carden Ganong, 7:30 p.m. Monday at the University of South Carolina School of Music Recital Hall, 813 Assembly St. This is the second installment of the Light the Way concert series, which raises funds for nonprofit organizations that serve the Midlands homeless population. Proceeds from this event will benefit Work in Progress. Refreshments will be served and a charity bar will be available. Tickets are $20 for the general public and $10 for students.

The Columbia Museum of Art is adding a jazz series to its musical offerings, beginning in January.

The CMA Jazz on Main series features the Charlotte-based Noel Freidline Quintet in four concerts in 2014. The first show is Jan. 17, with a tribute to the great voices of jazz. Other concerts are in April, September and November.
