SOUTH CAROLINA STATE LIBRARY CENTER FOR THE BOOK: Author James L. Underwood will talk about his book, “Deadly Censorship: Murder, Honor and Freedom of the Press,” as part of the library’s Speaker @ the Center program, Jan. 19 from noon-1 p.m., 1500 Senate St. Books will be available for purchase and autographing. S.C. BOOK FESTIVAL 2014: The 2014 S.C. Book Festival will be held May 16-18, 2014, at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. Exhibitor applications are now being taken through April 15, 2014. Author submissions will be taken through March 1, 2014. More information is available at www.scbookfestival.org.
