Columbia man indicted on two child porn charges

COLUMBIA A 44-year-old Columbia man has been indicted on two child porn charges.

David James Merlino was charged in a two-count indictment, which was announced Tuesday by U.S. Attorney Bill Nettles, with possession of child pornography and production and attempt to produce child pornography.

Merlino faces 50 years in prison and a maximum fine of $250,000 on the charges.

The case was investigated by agents of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and is being handled by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jamie Lea Nabors Schoen and DeWayne Pearson for prosecution.
