Thursday letters: Ombudsman’s office a treasure

— As a Luddite, I found myself unable to navigate the Internet to complete a payment for a seat-belt violation online. Because it was on a Richland County web site I decided to call the ombudsman’s office for help. Jessica answered and in less than five minutes, by her directing me to “take out the spaces in the phone number and erase the extra digits in the ZIP code,” the computer then accepted my credit card payment. Wow. Neat. Thank you, Jessica.

As president of a homeowner’s association, I frequently call the ombudsman’s office for help with directions to various county departments. They consistently exceed my expectations. Take my word for it, our Richland County Ombudsman’s Office is a treasure.
