Wrong-way crash Friday kills one, injures another

— One person has died and another person was hospitalized following a wrong-way crash Friday morning.

The crash happened around 5:20 a.m. on US 301, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol.

A 1992 Mercury was traveling south in the northbound lanes when it struck another northbound vehicle.

Troopers say the driver of the northbound vehicle died at the scence, and the driver of the Mercury was taken to Palmetto Health Richland with serious injuries.

The identity of the victim has not been released.

The Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
