Teen pedestrian hit by a vehicle on birthday

COLUMBIA, SC A 17-year-old was hit near C.A. Johnson High School on his birthday Friday afternoon, according to Columbia police.

Injuries appear to be minor, but he had scrapes, bumps and bruises and was transported to the hospital as a precaution, said Columbia Police Department spokesperson Jennifer Timmons.

The pedestrian turned 17 on Friday, and he was charged with being a pedestrian unlawfully in the roadway, she said.

The driver was charged with driving under suspension and failure to surrender her suspended driver’s license.
