COLUMBIA, SC — U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson is cosponsoring a bill that would protect military retirement benefits.
The bipartisan budget agreement passed this week adjusts military pensions of working-age retirees, cutting the inflation increases of retirees under the age of 62.
The new bill would protect the veterans’ benefits.
“Without the passage of this bill, our military would be subject to additional sequester cuts,” Wilson said in a press release. “Hollowing out our military and failing to adequately provide for our brave men and women serving to keep us safe is not in the best interest of American families.”
Funding for the measure would be found by closing a loophole found in the Child Tax Credit, the press release stated.
