Child playing with matches starts fatal Aiken fire

AIKEN, S.C. (AP) – Investigators say an 8-year-old child playing with matches started a fire that killed two people in Aiken.

Authorities said the fire was reported early Saturday morning. The child escaped, but two bodies were found inside once the blaze was extinguished.

Investigators say the child started the fire in a bedroom. They say no criminal charges will be filed.

The names of the victims have not been released.
