Newberry public safety officials responded to a vehicle that was found abandoned on the Broad River Road bridge over Cannon’s Creek on Friday morning.

The driver of the vehicle was located in Cannon's Creek and brought to shore by fishermen, according to a press release from Newberry County Sheriff’s Office. The driver was transported by the Pomaria Rescue Squad for medical treatment.

"We have received a number of concerns about the incident," said Sheriff Lee Foster in the release. "We want the public to know that this was not associated with a crime against another person or criminal activity. The citizens of this area can rest assured that there was no criminal activity in their area."
