Holiday closings

The following will be closed in observance of the Christmas holiday.

GOVERNMENT

• Federal offices will be closed Wednesday.

• Fort Jackson offices will be closed Wednesday. Some offices may be have limited hours during the week.

• State government offices will be closed Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

• Richland County offices will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday. Wednesday’s solid waste will be collected Thursday, Thursday’s solid waste will be collected Friday, and Friday’s solid waste will be collected Saturday.

• Lexington County offices will be closed Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Wednesday’s solid waste will be collected Thursday, Thursday’s solid waste will be collected Friday, and Friday’s solid waste will be collected Saturday.

• Kershaw County offices will be closed Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

• Columbia city offices will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday. Solid waste collection will remain on schedule.

• Forest Acres city offices will be closed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Solid waste collection will remain on schedule.

• Lexington town offices will be closed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Solid waste collection will remain on schedule.

• West Columbia City Hall and city offices will be closed Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Tuesday’s solid waste will be collected Monday, and Thursday’s solid waste will be collected Tuesday.

• Cayce town hall and city offices will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday; offices will close at 1 p.m. Monday. Tuesday’s garbage will be collected Monday.

• Irmo town offices will be closed Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Wednesday’s solid waste will be collected Thursday.

• Batesburg-Leesville offices will be closed Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Solid waste collection will remain on schedule.

• Springdale town offices will be closed Wednesday, Thursday and Friday; offices will close at noon on Tuesday. Solid waste will be collected Monday and yard trash will be collected Tuesday.

The South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles will be closed Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

SERVICES/BANKS

• Post offices will be closed Wednesday.

• Many banks and credit unions will be closed Wednesday. Check with your branch to verify.

• SCE&G will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

• Mid-Carolina Electric will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

• Palmetto Utilities Inc. will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

• Lexington’s Joint Municipal Water and Sewer Commission offices will be closed Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

• There will be no Central Midlands RTA bus service (COMET) Wednesday.

• Richland County Recreation Commission offices, recreation and community centers will be closed Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. LinRick golf course will be closed Wednesday.

• The South Carolina Education Lottery offices and claims center will be closed Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

LIBRARIES/MUSEUMS/ZOO

• Richland Library, including the main library and all branch locations, will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

• Lexington County Public Library System, including all branch locations, will be closed Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

• Kershaw County Library will be closed Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

• Columbia Museum of Art will be closed Wednesday. The museum will close at 2 p.m. Tuesday.

• The State Museum will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

• The S.C. Confederate Relic Room and Military Museum will be closed Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

The S.C. Military Museum on National Guard Road will be closed Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Historic Columbia Foundation houses will be closed Wednesday. Houses will close at 2 p.m. Tuesday and open at noon Thursday.

• EdVenture will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

• Riverbanks Zoo and Garden will be closed Wednesday.

THE STATE

• The State newspaper’s advertising, business and circulation departments will be closed Wednesday. Regular business hours will resume on Thursday.

In the event of a delivery problem, customer representatives are available Tuesday from 6:30-11 a.m. at (800) 888-3566.
