Monday letters: Spirit of giving unites S.C.

December 23, 2013

— We South Carolinians pride ourselves on our regional differences. We even go so far as to celebrate regional variations in barbeque sauce.

Beloved sauces aside, our regional differences recede as the rising spirit of philanthropy unites us.

As president of the “chamber of commerce” for our state’s nonprofit organizations, the S.C. Association of Nonprofit Organizations, I thank the many leaders of the Association of Fundraising Professionals for their hard work and vision in creating events last month to celebrate National Philanthropy Day and reminding our communities and our state that the spirit of giving unites us all.

Our brightest development professionals will share best practices during a workshop at the Nonprofit Summit this February in Charleston. While it is one of many sessions at the summit, we are grateful to these professionals for sharing and collaborating. They set an example for all.
