It’s every pet owner’s worst nightmare: finding yourself with a sick animal at 3 a.m. and having nowhere to turn.

But now, the S.C. Veterinary Specialists and Emergency Care in Columbia is offering 24-hour service, 365 days a year.

The expanded hours mean that pets can receive emergency services such as cardiology, endoscopy and oncology at any time of day, without an appointment.

“Our emergency veterinarians focus mainly on situations like unanticipated illnesses, traumatic injuries or chronic conditions that take a sudden and life-threatening turn for the worse,” said employee Brad Marconyak in a press release. “In these cases, even if they happen during the day, trying to make an appointment may not be prudent or possible.”

SCVSEC is located at 3924 Fernandina Road. Visit www.scvsec.com for more information.
