Horry County woman charged with stabbing death

GALIVANTS FERRY, S.C. (AP) – Horry County police have charged a Galivants Ferry woman with murder in the stabbing death of a man.

Fifty-five-year-old Connie Louise Highsmith has been charged with the fatal stabbing on Christmas Eve in Galivants Ferry.

The 52-year-old man's name has not been released yet.

Police were called about 3 p.m. on Christmas Eve and found the man dead.

Lt. Robert Kegler said the death was the result of a domestic dispute. It was not clear if Highsmith has an attorney.

Gallivants Ferry is on of western edge of Horry County, which includes the resort city of Myrtle Beach and is one of the state’s largest counties.

An autopsy was planned Thursday.
