ROCK HILL – A Rock Hill mother was jailed Sunday after police say she left her two young children in the car alone for 15 minutes while she went inside a store.

A woman who went to the East Main Street Dollar General called police after seeing two young girls, ages 1 and 4, inside of a green Honda in the parking lot at about 12:30 p.m., according to a Rock Hill police report. One of the girls was in a car seat, while the other was climbing around the inside, attempting to open the car doors.

Officers arrived and stayed on scene for about four minutes before Donnisha Judge, 23, came out the store and tried to open the car door, the report states. Judge confirmed that the children were hers, but claimed she only left the kids in the car alone for about two minutes.

The witness who called officers told police she watched the car for at least five minutes before she dialed 911, the report states. Police determined the girls were left in the car for about 15 minutes. Authorities arrested Judge, charging her with one count of unlawful conduct toward a child. Her mother took custody of the children.

By Monday morning, she was still in jail on a $35,000 bond. ––– ©2013 The Herald (Rock Hill, S.C.) Visit The Herald (Rock Hill, S.C.) at Distributed by MCT Information Services AMX-2013-12-30T12:19:00-05:00
