Columbia's 24-hour emergency homeless shelter

— Thanks to Clif LeBlanc for his Dec. 22 coverage of the homeless in Columbia (“Shelter’s success remains a question”).

Perhaps a few more people will want to get involved in bringing about some relief to this problem. It’s easy to close one’s eyes and shove this troubling fester onto others who are working day after day to lighten our common burden.

I was able to help in my own little way for quite a few years. Life took on a whole new dimension for me, as I can promise it will for anyone willing to give it a try. As a starter, call (803) 603-8423, the number given with the article.

Have you noticed that those with the most to criticize usually have the most to give?
